Focus: Reckless, Careless & Dangerous Driving
What's happening?
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), in partnership with enforcement agencies across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, is conducting Operation Safe Driver Week from July 13–19, 2025.
Throughout the week, law enforcement will intensify traffic stops, targeting unsafe behaviors behind the wheel, including:
Speeding
Distracted driving (texting, phone use)
Tailgating
Impaired driving (drugs/alcohol)
Aggressive or erratic maneuvers
Motorists, particularly commercial motor vehicle drivers, may receive warnings or citations during stops.
Why it matters
In 2022, more than 42,700 lives were lost in traffic collisions across North America. Operation Safe Driver Week aims to reduce this tragic number by combining high-visibility enforcement with educational outreach.
What Your Fleet Should Do Now
Inform Drivers about the enforcement dates and target behaviors.
Cover Safety Topics like defensive driving, speed control, and distraction-free driving during meetings.
Distribute Free Educational Resources (linked below).
Use Dashcams & Telematics to monitor and coach on-road behavior.
